Bilquis Hotel   ****

"Luxury in the desert"

Our hotel, Bilquis Ma'arib was built in the shape of Awam Temple, also known as Mahram Bilquis. Bilquis,  the Queen of  Sheba, ruler of  the Saba'ean Kingdom, controlled access north along the famed frankincense route as camel caravans traveled from Wadi Hadramowt to Ma'arib bound for the Levant.

Bilquis Ma'arib is a modern hotel, located near the ancient city of Ma'arib and the historical Ma'arib dam.  The hotel consists of  66 rooms, 4 suites, in addition to 16 rooms and 2 apartments in the annex.  Central air-conditioning, Swimming pool, Internet and international direct dialing are available for your comfort. From here you can begin your desert journey, traveling along the ancient frankincense route,  with your Bedouin drivers effortlessly navigating the dunes.

“ This is our second home” Merilyn Phillips Hodgson

The Annex at Bilquis Ma'arib is set aimed the luscious gardens of our Bilquis hotel. It consists of 16 rooms and 2 apartments.  It’s home to Melilyn Phillips Hodgson, President of the American Foundation for the Study of Man, who spends two months here in both Spring and Autumn with an international team of staff, working on the archaeological site that her late brother Wendall Phillips began in the late 1950’s, some 50 years ago. In the gardens of Bilquis complex, we have tennis court, children's playground, and traditional Bedouin tents where gahwa (traditional Arabic coffee) and dates are served along with barbecues. Sunsets are heavenly in this desert environment.
